Bay. Kammerphilharmonie

The Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1990 by music students who wanted to fulfil their dream of putting on high-class concerts and musical events. Only two years later they recorded their first CD in cooperation with Bavarian Broadcasting presenting music by ostracized composers from Theresienstadt. The record was praised by experts from all over the world. The group has been “orchestra in residence” at the “L’êté musical dans la valée du lot” festival in Southern France since 1994. In 1996 it received the European Award for the Promotion of Music by the “Fördergemeinschaft der europäischen Wirtschaft”. Concerts in Germany and abroad, numerous CD productions and cooperation with soloists and conductors such as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Mischa Maisky, Mario Venzago, David Geringas, Michel Plasson, Roland Kluttig, Julia Varady, Xavier Phillips, Mstislaw Rostropowitsch demonstrate what an excellent ensemble this orchestra is.
Europe’s most prominent labels, such as EMI, Koch Schwann, Atlantis Art, Deutsche Grammophon and cpo, have already released CDs by the orchestra. The world’s first recording of Antonio Rosetti’s concerts for two horns and orchestra, as well as his concerts for horn and orchestra, which was made in cooperation with Bavarian Broadcasting and the record label Arte Nova, twice received the highest award from the BBC Music Magazine and gained the top score at “Klassik heute”.
Apart from “un-er-hört”, a self-produced series the ensemble performed in Augsburg, in 2005 it also played with Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin and Martha Argerich. In addition, it gave performances at festivals in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, the Rheingau festival as well as the Munich Piano Summer. In the same year, the orchestra published two CDs, one of them together with writer Prof. Walter Jens.
