Leopold Mozart Quartet

The Leopold Mozart Quartet was founded in spring 2005 by four musicians of the Philharmonic Orchestra Augsburg. Shortly after, the LMQ could already present a very broad repertoire and has given countless concerts in and around Augsburg since then. Additionally, Deutschland Radio Kultur broadcasted the quartet’s music in one show of the “Deutschlandrundfahrt” series. When he was only twelve years old, Christian Döring, who has taken part in numerous chamber music classes and who is the ensemble’s head, won the Leipzig Bach Competition. Another member of the LMQ is Agnes Bilowitzki who did not only study violin and musical education, but was also trained to be a music teacher. Kirill Kapchiev, who plays the viola, studied at the Moscow State Conservatory; cellist Johannes Gutfleisch, who has played with numerous other chamber musicians, has also performed at many different festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Weimar Art Festival. Critics and journalists have praised the ensemble’s wide range of sounds, the significant articulation as well as its homogeneity.
