Simon Pickel

Simon Pickel was educated in music in the Windsbach Boys Choir. He studied international culture management in Freiburg and musicology and German in Regensburg. His first positions in arts management were at the Bachfest in Leipzig and at the Nürnberg State Theater.

From 2007-2011 he was planning and personnel manager of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe where he worked internationally with such artists as Bernard  Haitink, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Sir András Schiff, Emanuel Ax and Lisa Batiashvili.

Since the fall of 2015 he has headed the Mozart office of the city of Augsburg  and in this capacity he is artistic director of the German Mozart Festival as well as executive director of the International Violin Competition Leopold Mozart. As of summer semester 2018 he holds a lectureship at the University of Augsburg.
